Words & Photos by Jason T. Jaskot
Some would say that when  you’ve shot one runway show backstage, you’ve shot them all. After all, how many different ways can you photograph a girl getting her hair done while checking her phone? All backstages for runway shows are chaotic at best, but the difference at the Art Hearts shows is that it’s a warmer, gentler kind of chaos. And also a type of family kind of chaos, as the same models keep coming back year after year. This year Arts Hearts expanded, doing several shows and parties; juggling well over a half dozen designers between shows at Grand Central Terminal and The Refectory at The High Line hotel.
Familiar brands like Mister Triple X(who’s Erik Rosete is the founder of Art Hearts) and the ever-dapper House Of Byfield mixed with exciting newcomers like Zachary/Nathaniel. The clothing itself ranged from the skimpiest men’s swimwear to the most elaborate women’s gowns imaginable, from ornate golden headdresses to cheeky graphic tees. Check out the behind the scenes action(and inaction–there is always plenty of time to hurry up and wait for hair and make-up to get finished) at both shows.
