NEW YORK — The air was hot with anticipation outside The Sky Room Time Square (despite it being a brisk December evening) as an overwhelming surge of young partygoers filled most of the busy West 40th street location Friday night, creating a blur of stilettos, backless dresses, button-ups, and skinny ties. One of New York City’s most elite nightclubs was in the midst of welcoming artist Curtis Ryan into his own realm of extravagance and entertainment in celebration of the release of his latest music video “Tonight.” Exiting his car and making his way to the velvet rope, the singer was serenaded by a wave of applause. A content smirk told everyone tonight was, indeed, his night.

In August 2011, the Guyana native broke onto the scene with his summer dance track, “Body Banging,” grabbing the attention of listeners and resulting in 40,000 music video views online in just a few weeks. Following his move to the United States, Ryan developed a passion for House and Electronica music and made the bold decision to take his music in a new direction. His premiere single, “Tonight,” functions somewhat as a reintroduction to Curtis Ryan, capturing what he feels is intriguing about New York nightlife.

Within the Sky Room’s private lounge, V.I.P tables became ensemble cast of celebrities, models, and fashion aficionados. Among those in attendance were Blue Michael (Blue Michael Cosmetics), Dashaun Welsey (MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew), Tv Personality Carmen Carrera, Celebrity Stylist Omar Alexander, and 106.1 WBLI’s Radio Personality Barbara De Laleu – The Beautiful Stranger. XEX Magazine Editor in Chief & Celebrity Photographer Sailey Williams and Music Video Director Adolphus Amissah could also be seen raising a glass to Mr. Ryan. Of course, photographers, and interviewers kept Ryan busy most of the night, but he still found the time sign autographs & to dance with his fans when his song came on.

As The Sky Room’s flat screens monitors played, one couldn’t help but notice that the lavish night depicted in his video almost mirrored the night he was actually having at the moment. Ryan laughs, “I guess we got it right.”
