THUY February 16,2010
THUY
Fall Collection 2010
Thuy was part of the few brands determinate not play safe and create a new diversity of colors and sometimes beyond our safe color zone for fall.
Waist very well marked with a colorful and happy prints in all cocktail dresses, blouses and trench coats. The major season influence was also mettalic embraced with rich texture and colors from silver to bronze.
Fur not only added a special charm for every accessorie but also exposed beautiful fur collars mixed with rustic and serious tones of brown and black.
The story was simple but the pages were very interesting, creating a new resolution for Thuy. Taking bold steps in simple paths.
LUCA LUCA February 14,2010
LUCA LUCA
Fall Collection 2010
Raul Melgolza as many designers decided to play safe and keep on the same track. Luca Luca is far away from drama on the runway but that doesn't mean that texture and curves created by Melgolza turn every woman into a strong figure.
The collection had a big season influence with many different metallic fabrics and taking strong measures to create a modern and sophisticated look without stepping towards the vintage vision. A beautiful silver silk Taffeta trench coat set the tune for the show and making us wonder what delicate can come out of something so strong, the answer came right way with a black sequin shift dress.
Towards to end of the show we could see that Melgolza also wanted to please the "simple" Luca Luca woman, showing many pieces in grey stretch wool and simple jersey pant.
I believe Luca Luca has the finest sense when the subject is about simple but sophisticated woman on the same tune.
Y-3 February 14,2010
Y-3
Fall Collection 2010
Yohji Yamamoto worked really hard to present a collection where buyers and investors could take Adidas Y-3 to a better level than last year, where many stores closed around the world.
Mystery, urban sights, romance and super heroes were words defined by Yamamoto with a very dark, eccentric and romantic collection for fall. Lots of movements using simple and comfort fabrics, taking a deep chapter over Y-3 urban romance.
Sleeveless capes and jump suits with a long dropped crotch directed us to a chapter full of danger and fear where colors were played along the show to break the mystery into a peaceful end. But in the end Yamamoto find himself prisoner of love setting jailbird stripes shirts and losing his battle for a happy ending.
CUSTO BARCELONA February 14,2010
CUSTO BARCELONA
HAIRY METAL FALL 2010
Custo Barcelona was one of my favorite shows of the season, the strong attitude, energetic and contemporary vibe surrounding the collection, made The Tent jump up and down.
Metal was the main and most influential element of the entire collection, not only navigating over the seas of meltalic fabrics but also understanding that appliques can make every outfit outstanding and bold.
Graphics were also inspired by liquid metals, like mercury, melted silver, red hot iron and tin. All these elements very well mixed in jackets, pants, blouses and suits.
Fake fur was also very well develeped in order to show a creative mix with wool to match colors, texture and style. My big passion for Custo Barcelona is the thick tricot, the texture and final result embrace so much of the tradition and concept of the brand.
T-shirts and trousers were also sprinkled with many different metals and very colorful full of lights and gloss.
Custo Barcelona is not afraid to try, moving forward and ready to rock many fashionistas out there.
Lela Rose Fall 2010 February 13,2010
Lela Rose
Fall Collection 2010
Lela decided to go beyond our planet Earth and she landed in a very exotic and unknown place surrounded by many influences over the Galapagos Island and images of lunar floors.
The 2010 Collection uses natures of various surface textures with a great romantic concept and endless imagination.
The main character of the entire collection was the fabric print it self. Her inspiration among many sources, such as Telescope images and asteroid superficies pictures.
From a "bold" liquid mercury jumpsuit to a blousy cinched-waist frock treated to look like it had been lined with pebbles that really made an impression.
Lela made a collection with a perfect balance of high fashion and ready to sell it, blessed with starts, planets and asteroids.
Charlotte Ronson Fall 2010 February 12,2010
Charlotte Ronson
Fall 2010 Collection
After a huge runway show disaster last season, Charlotte Ronson decided to travel around the world and find the right inspiration for the elegant but extremely casual traveler.
The collection was one hundred percent designed to be comfortable, ready to wear over a big gypsy vibe. I don't like to use the term vagabond, but Ronson's collection toke all of us into that direction with very functional results.
Pants with endless movements and lots of texture were add in simple fabrics to make it every woman extremely comfortable but never out of style. Beautiful blouses with pure and delicate forms were also part of this trip. Long pleated skirts and a simple green army cape completed the collection composed by a stylish functional citizen of the world
Venexiana by Kati Stern February 12,2010
VENEXIANA
by Kati Stern Fall Collection 2010
Kati Stern makes Venexiana a powerful and brilliant collection with many inspirations from the deep and obscure energy of today's world. Watching from the first row is a fast ticket to a magic trip over her endless imagination and executing unexpected results.
Metal, blue, black and bronze are the magical colors for this fantastic collection surrounded by strong details reflecting Stern's pure feminine personality.
The journey starts from a powerful and dark black velvet dress, floral chiffon cocktail dress and stunning black French organza gown. Once you reach the next level of her journey, you will find silver silk metallic evening gown and a stunning midnight blue and black grand ball gown.
To neutralize and complete with a fresh energy a sea foam metallic gold silk organza evening gown, making every girl absolutely confident on the eyes of Kati Stern.
Duckie Brown Fall 2010 February 11,2010
GET DUCKIE
FALL/WINTER 2010 Collection
Duckie Brown brought us pure commercial style and rough masculinity at the same sentence. The show was embraced with many military fields from the north of Russia to a very modern man in the center of London.
The military impression was perfectly done with jackets and trenches well designed with big squared pockets and straight cuts for the shoulder, raising the man with sense of respect and importance.
Colors were also a big character over the show such as lime short trench, red royal Stewart Tartan narrow trouser and acid yellow jacket. The biggest "bold" move was the skinny, cuffed crop pants finalizing over the classic leather military "shinning" boots.
Duckie Brown made it clear that economic pressure and their recent commercial partnerships were two major reasons to make it simple and ready to sell it.
Farah Angsana Fall 2010 February 11,2010
Farah Angsana
Fall 2010 Collection
Farah Angsana's show is always an incredible journey for the real elegant and sophisticated New Yorker woman. Her latest story defines sensuality in many degrees of the word "dress".
Pure extravaganza over the 42 looks presented at the runway, telling us a beautiful story from a modern woman who can impress from a cocktail party to a stunning red carpet look. The collection started with a beautiful mulberry silk cocktail dress with hand-pleated bodice and puff-sleeves draped tulip skirt.
Angsana is a big believer of texture and colors, reflecting a confident and classic woman without losing important aspects of design and trend.
Apliques, fur collars and Swarovski were important elements embraced all over the entire collection, like many other designers during this season.
The show could not be over without showing us what Farah Angsana does her best: gowns. Sensual evening gowns with vibrant colors from silk red to a classic violet chiffon, enough to impress every woman who wants to shy at the many gala events trough fall in NYC.
It's really hard to find a designer who can please different generations over the same concept, Angsana proves that dynamic and endless choices of fabric can definitely reflect into a stunning result.
