Interview: Christine Nieves

You come from an extensive family of entertainers, How has that influenced you in your career?

First off, being surrounded by the creative energy throughout my family it has allowed me to pursue my creative passions and the career I want. They have been supportive and gave me the knowledge about how the entertainment industry works so I have no false ideas of what it is. Basically it all comes down to hard work, a little luck and staying persistent. I was exposed to many of the art forms, including dance, singing, and performing, which has helped with the modeling and acting jobs I do today!

You started your modeling career at the age of 15.  Tell us a little bit about spending those teenage years traveling the world.

It was the most amazing experience! I lived in Paris, London, Shanghai, and New York. Now I’m currently living in Los Angeles! I learned so much about myself, and that is how I became the strong independent woman I am today! It taught me to never give up on my dreams! Also all the traveling has exposed me to different cultures, cuisines and that’s where I draw most of my influences from including; recipes for my cookbook, my own personal fashion and decor/lifestyle.

Do you have a favorite city?

I love Paris

How do you feel your experience in modeling will translate to your acting career?

Acting is just an extension of modeling, where you get to use your voice and take the character you are portraying further. Modeling teaches you to talk through your eyes and use your facial expressions really well. Also helps with being aware of your body angles and positions. I think that experience mixed with acting class can make for a great actress. As well as being used to going on castings and dealing with rejection.

If you could work with any actor or actress who would it be?

Angelina Jolie.

I’m a big fan of the 50s, 60s & 70s. I draw most of my inspiration and style from those decades! But I also like to incorporate the new trends going on now! Some of my favorite designers are Chanel, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Chloe, and Marc Jacobs.

Do you prefer the gym or outdoor workout?

Neither 🙂 I like to go to ballet class!

What advice would you give to aspiring models that are looking to get into the business?

First make sure it’s your passion! Remember that it is hard work and not always as glamorous as this career is perceived to be. Modeling is not a race and that everyone has their moment to shine. Last but not least stay true to yourself and never give up on your dreams.

Do you have any upcoming projects we should be on the look out for?

Target Commercial, Honda Print Ad, Living Doll Spring/Summer Look book, Scion Campaign , Apple Campaign. Currently working on a cookbook and some music stuff!
