Philippe Audibert XEXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:

1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Bordeaux. My family had a house by the beach. I have fond memories of my childhood.

2. What is the source of your inspiration?
People who I see, meet, talk to everyday. I listen to what they have to say, I’m aware of their needs and desires. I don’t design jewelry for myself, that is why I’m attentive to people around me.

3. What is the first piece you ever made, who wore it and do you still have it?
I’ve been designing jewelry for quite a long time now. But there is one thing I do remember very well. About ten years ago, I designed a silver belt for Linda Evangelista. It was unique and she wore it to perfection.

4. Where you exposed to any creative source while growing up?
Not at all. My family is in the wine business. My mum is a philosopher, so I guess we can say she had some kind of an artistic influence on me.

5. What is your favorite season and why?
Summer, without hesitation. My family and I go sailing in Corsica.

6. Where does one have the best Creme Brulee in Paris ?
At Dumonet, rue du Cherche-Midi in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

7. Fashion Tip for a woman :
Wear black. If you don’t feel too sure or too confident about what you’re wearing, just wear black. You will always look elegant. No fashion faux-pas guaranteed !

8. Fashion Tip for a man:
Wear color ! Men always wear black, as if it was the only option. Stand out ! Wear bright colors !

9. What is next for you and where can we find your work?
We are developping a men’s line. We are always trying to explore new things. In the US, you can find us in many different states and cities.  You can find us at Henry Bendel, Bloomingdale’s, Scoop NYC and www.net-a-porter.com to mention a few.

10. Don’t give up your dreams, always remember … to follow your instincts and to stay honest and fair, it’s the key to success.
