Illustrious international superstar Lady Gaga stormed the West Hollywood area this past week to film her lyrics video for her newest hit “Applause”. West Hollywood – a mecca for LGBT & drag nightlife was the scene of one of the hottest Gaga appearances before next weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards. Mother Monster gave her L.A. area fans a heads up just after 10 p.m., tweeting, “I will definitely NOT be at Mickys tonight, and I will definitely NOT expect you there to be in my lyric video.
Mickey’s – the home of most the towns drag community was lit up by the pop-star’s ecstatic energy and stage time – even having one of the birthday guests sung to by Gaga herself. The video featured several stars of the critically acclaimed reality show – RuPaul’s Drag Race – including Shannel, Detox, Morgan McMichaels, Willam, Raven & Shangela, who Instagrammed a snap of the twosome, writing, “She was super sweet and showed love to all the Queens and Fans. A True Star!”

Fan videos and photos flooded our Facebook & Instagram feeds all week, spreading excitement for Gaga’s brand new club beat. The release of this video follows a tweet from the superstar saying that she was highly interested in being a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Gaga praises the drag community for giving her that “oomph” that launched her stardom. Coming from the streets and nightclubs of New York – performing for the likes of Shequida, Brandon Voss, and Susanne Bartsch – that has definately proven correct. Tweeting RuPaul directly may be the best way to get on the show – especially with her caliber – but we have not heard any response yet from World Of Wonder – the production company behind the famed reality show. We look forward to seeing her upcoming video and hopefully an appearance on Drag Race in the coming years!
