La Rara Team is bringing vogue’s comeback to Barcelona’s club culture with a successful new show made of classic house music, fashion, video art and performance.

Voguing and its cultural background is making a large comeback to some major cities’ subcultures, like in Paris or Berlin.  While artists from Barcelona have turned their love for the voguing culture into spontaneous performances and theme parties over the past few years with NYC’s scene where the tradition began as main reference.

La Rara Team, as a creative duo, is pushing, from many years ago, this curious dancing moves’ comeback -whose origin, goal and techniques can be seen on the cult documentary “Paris Is Burning” (Jennie Livingston, 1990)- making them visible at their gigs and parties. Now they are premiering HOUSE OF LA RARA, a show that creates a musical dialogue between their dj-set, 2 dancers-crew and the club’s crowd. Through a very curated musical selection, allusions to the 90s, and the dancing performances, they offer basic knowledges about the ballroom culture and the balls’ -where voguing battles were the highest moment- basic operations, making the venue turn into a very funny frenzy, and those who didn’t know about that culture, to learn a bit about it.

Sponsoring spanish talent -wearing clothes from brands like Jimmy Can TunisHosoi or Maria Ke Fisherman; and working with artists such as Josep Prat Sorolla to design their graphics-, HOUSE OF LA RARA premiered successfully in Razzmatazz’s New Year’s Eve lineup.
